General Studio Rules​

• Respect the space and community – Studio Calmplex is a shared creative space. Please be mindful, courteous, and respectful to fellow students, instructors and staff.

• Clean up after yourself – Students are responsible for cleaning their workstations, tools, and any shared equipment after use. Please leave the space as you found it.

• No outside clay or glazes – To protect our kilns and maintain consistent firing results, only clay and glazes approved or sold by Studio Calmplex may be used.

• Work storage – All in-progress work must be stored on designated studio shelves only. Storage space is limited. Items left outside assigned or designated areas may be moved or discarded.

• Drinks are allowed only in containers with secure lids. Food is not allowed in the studio.

• No open flames or hazardous materials – Personal torches, alcohol lamps, or any unauthorized hazardous materials are strictly prohibited.

• Proper attire – Closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing are required for all classes. Loose or dangling jewelry is not recommended.

• Studio Calmplex reserves the right to suspend or revoke studio access for repeated policy violations, unsafe behavior, or misuse of materials or equipment.
   

Check-In & Check-Out

• Upon Arrival, please check in by writing your name and time of entry on the designated check-in/out board before starting your session.

• Before Departure, please check out by writing your departure time on the designated check-in/out board.

Open Studio Access

• Open Studio is available only to currently enrolled multi-week class students and approved independent users with prior ceramics experience.

• First-time Open Studio users must check in with a staff member or instructor before beginning work.

• Students using Open Studio are expected to work independently and use the space responsibly.

• Open Studio access may be limited based on studio operations, staffing, events, or capacity.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

All classes require a 3 person minimum to run. If a class is canceled due to low enrollment, students will be notified.​

​

One-Day Classes & Workshops

• Cancellations made at least 72 hours before the class date are eligible for a full refund minus the processing fee, or a one-time rescheduling to another available class date.

• Cancellations made within 72–48 hours prior to the class date are eligible for a 50% refund minus the processing fee. Rescheduling is not available.

• Cancellations made within 48 hours prior to the class are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.

• All One-Day Class refunds incur a $15 processing fee due to our third-party booking provider, Sawyer.

• Rescheduling requests must be made at least 72 hours in advance and are subject to availability. Once a class has been rescheduled, it cannot be rescheduled again or refunded.​

 

Multi-Week Classes

• Cancellations made at least 7 days before the class start date will receive a full refund minus the processing fee.

• Cancellations made within 7 days of the class start date will receive a 50% refund minus the processing fee.

• Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the first class are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.

• Once a session has started, no refunds or make-ups will be provided except for the one-time make-up policy outlined below.

• All Multi-Week Class refunds incur a $30 processing fee due to our third-party booking provider, Sawyer.

• Students enrolled in a multi-week class are allowed one make-up session if they notify us in advance. The make-up must be scheduled within the same session and is subject to availability.
   

Workshops & Special Events

• Due to limited capacity and preparation involved, workshop and event fees are non-refundable, non-transferable, and may not be rescheduled.

 

Private Events & Group Bookings

• Private event cancellations require at least 14 days’ notice for a full refund minus the processing fee.

• Cancellations made 7–13 days before the event will receive a 50% refund minus the processing fee.

• Cancellations made less than 7 days before the event are non-refundable.

• All Private Event refunds incur a processing fee depending on party size due to our third-party booking provider, Toast.

• Refunds are processed to the original payment method and may take up to 7 business days to reflect.

Lateness

Please arrive on time for your class. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you may not be allowed to join the session, and it will be considered a no-show.

Firing & Pick-Up

• Firing fees are included in most classes unless otherwise stated.

• Only clay purchased from or approved by Studio Calmplex may be fired in our kilns.

• All work must be clearly and properly labeled before being placed for firing. Unlabeled work may not be fired.

• We cannot guarantee specific firing results. Variations in glaze and firing outcomes are a natural part of ceramics. Studio Calmplex is not responsible for cracking, warping, glaze flaws, breakage, kiln mishaps, or other unintended outcomes.

• Firing timelines may vary depending on studio volume, drying time, and kiln schedules. Completion dates are not guaranteed.

• Finished pieces must be picked up within 30 days of firing unless otherwise stated. Unclaimed work may be discarded after that period.

Kid's Classes & Private Sessions

At this time, we do not offer regular kids’ classes. If you are interested in arranging a private session for children, please contact us to inquire about a private class.

On rare occasions, we offer special parent-and-child workshops. These are announced separately on our website or through our other channels.

Health & Safety

• Studio equipment must be used properly. If you are unsure how to operate any equipment, please ask an instructor or staff member for assistance.

• Avoid dust buildup — always clean up after yourself, as ceramic dust can be harmful if inhaled.

• Glaze safely — do not mix glazes or apply them too thickly, as this may damage your work or our kilns.

• No outside chemicals — only studio-approved materials and tools may be used.

• For safety, please avoid cell phone use while operating wheels, kilns, or other equipment.

• ​

No Smoking

Smoking is strictly prohibited within the studio building.

Animals

Pets are not allowed in the studio. Service animals are welcome in accordance with applicable law.

 

Photography & Video

Studio Calmplex may occasionally photograph or film classes, workshops, or events for archival or promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be photographed or filmed, please notify a staff member in advance.

 

Guests

Students may bring guests for brief visits to view the studio, but guests are not permitted to use studio equipment, materials, or workspaces, and may not remain for extended periods unless approved by staff.

Personal Belongings

Studio Calmplex is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.

​

Restroom & Clay Cleanup

Please use the studio sink for cleaning clay and tools. The bathroom sink does not have a clay trap, so do not use it for clay-related cleaning.

 

Weather, Emergency, or Operational Changes

Studio Calmplex reserves the right to adjust class schedules, Open Studio access, or studio hours due to weather, emergencies, maintenance, staffing, or other operational needs. If changes affect your booking, we will contact you using the information provided at registration.

 

Notes

By signing up for a class, workshop, or event at Studio Calmplex, you acknowledge and agree to our policies. These policies are in place to support a smooth experience for all students while maintaining the safety, care, and integrity of the studio.
